Strengthening locally led humanitarian action with a focus on the Pacific

A) Objectifs de l’engagement:

For the years 2020 – 2024, the Australian Government and Australian Red Cross hereby pledge to build on previous achievements and work together to advance the localisation of humanitarian action, with a strong focus on the Pacific.

B) Plan d’action

  • Continue to advance the localisation of humanitarian action through strong advocacy and leadership – at regional, local and global levels – to ensure that momentum continues and to draw attention to the progress being made in the Pacific region.
  • Proactively work together to identify and reduce barriers to localised humanitarian action, with a specific focus on: financing; reporting; capacity strengthening; coordination; and partnerships.
  • Strengthen monitoring and evaluation tools to enable progress in the focus areas outlined above to be tracked.
  • Continue to explore and work on developing appropriate responses for specific localisation challenges.

C) Indicateurs permettant de mesurer les avancées:

  • Number of partnerships with capacity building plans that aim at strengthening institutional capacity and increase the locally-led approach.
  • Number of partner agencies/governments that draw on ARC’s localisation research and case studies to improve practice.
  • Number of national societies with M&E frameworks in place that track progress on their influence in locally-led decision-making.
  • Examples of effective responses to localisation challenges.
