Promoting a localised approach to disaster preparedness and response in the climate-vulnerable Pacific

A) Objectifs de l’engagement:

The Government and National Society of New Zealand Red Cross jointly pledge to work together to ensure that disaster preparedness and response is centred on local actions, recognising local needs, priorities and capacities.

B) Plan d’action

  • New Zealand will establish formal working relations and joint programming with local, national and regional disaster management bodies to promote increased coordination.
  • New Zealand’s capacity building support across the Pacific and beyond, will focus on strengthening locally led management and leadership in disaster planning and response.
  • New Zealand will prioritise and promote localised approaches in our engagement with civil society partners and other Red Cross Red Crescent National Societies.

C) Indicateurs permettant de mesurer les avancées:

  • Proportion of humanitarian preparedness and response financing in the Pacific direct to national and local actors including the affected government, local NGOs and Red Cross Red Crescent National Societies.
  • Number of technical assistance packages delivered.
  • Number of PICS engaged.
