A) Objectifs de l’engagement:

Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity( WHO).Mental health is an integral part of any disaster preparedness and response the need for psychological support has increased with the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic. Like many other Global countries affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, Zambia has not been spared. It is for this reason that Zambia Red cross Society has partnered with the government to respond to this pandemic through implementation of the COVID-19 Response Project. From the onset of the pandemic in March 2020, concerns and feedback was noted from the many communities around that bordered on peoples mental wellbeing such as stress, worry, anxiety which  prompted the society to incorporate the MHPSS in its response. It recognized Mental health and psychosocial support as an intervention that can improve the well-being and help restore day to day functioning and recovery of Individuals, Families and communities affected by the pandemic. As a National Society, we are uniquely positioned to reach vulnerable populations, who are not served by their formal health and social care systems by providing Psychological First Aid. It is through this that we relate to the proposed resolution of the  33rd International Conference by addressing mental health and psychosocial needs of people affected by this natural disaster.

By making this pledge, we commit for Psychological First Aid (PFA) as a means to prevent and alleviate mental health and psychosocial needs and promote individual and community resilience.
