Report on – pledge: Safe Schools Declaration

Mesures prises:

Liechtenstein has aligned itself with the Safe Schools Declaration and has also encouraged other States to align themselves with the Safe Schools Declaration. Liechtenstein continues to raise awareness on the implementation of the Declaration in particular with a view to improve the protection of education in situations of armed conflicts. Liechtenstein has also supported multiple joint statements on the implementation and adherence to the Safe Schools Declaration in the UN Human Rights Council (49th, 52nd and 55th HRC).

Liechtenstein is a State Party to the Optional Protocol to the Convention of the Right of the Child on the involvement of children in armed conflict and continues to raise awareness on the importance of the Optional Protocol and to call for its universal ratification.

Liechtenstein is an active member of the New York-based Group of Friends on Children and Armed Conflict, cooperates with and supports the activities of the UN Special Representative for Children and Armed Conflict (CAAC), promotes awareness of the CAAC agenda and regularly participates at the Open Debates in the UN Security Council on the topic.

In addition, Liechtenstein supports initiatives and programs aimed at preventing and combatting all forms of violence, in particular sexual violence, against children during armed conflicts, and closely collaborates with All Survivors Project to improve research and action on Conflict-related Sexual Violence (CRSV) against men and boys.
