Protection of education and children is a priority in Norway’s new humanitarian strategy 2019-2023.

 

Norway has given priority to the promotion, universalization and implementation of the Safe schools declaration since its launch in Oslo 2015. The declaration now has more than 100 endorsements. It is recognized as a key protection tool in multilateral fora including in the UN Children and armed conflict agenda.

 

Norway has co-hosted two international conferences, Argentina 2017 and Spain 2019, to increase universalization and to discuss practical implementation of the declaration among states and civil society.

 

Norway built its partnership with Norcross and ICRC to support the Movements increased engagement in safe access to education.
