Joint pledge agreed upon by the Government of Iceland and the Icelandic Red Cross during the 32nd International Conference of the Red Cross and the Red Crescent in 2015: Pledge regarding the protection of refugees coming from conflict areas

A) Objectives of the pledge:

The Icelandic Government and the Icelandic Red Cross hereby agree to cooperate in the execution of the following pledge:

    1. Support and promote peaceful resolutions of disputes and armed conflicts including by reiterating the role of the United Nations Security Council to maintain international peace and security.

 

    1. Support international and humanitarian organisations assisting refugees in conflict areas and their neighbouring states.

 

    1. Advocate internationally that states receive refugees in cooperation with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

 

    1. Increase the Icelandic refugee quota during the next four years compared to recent years.

 

    1. Support refugee families.
