Actions taken:
On 5 July 2022, the Cabinet approved the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Plan B.E. 2564-2570 (2021-2027) and assigned relevant agencies at all levels to implement the Plan. Consequently, all provinces, districts and municipalities have been instructed to adopt a local action plan, ensure preparedness, and promote multi-sectoral collaboration on disaster prevention and mitigation. To ensure effective coordination and harmonization, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, Ministry of Interior distributes guideline booklets, conducts trainings of instructors, and provides other district-level capacity building activities. At the same time, the Department of Provincial Administration includes plans and programs on disaster prevention and mitigation as one of the indicators of Local Performance Assessment evaluation to ensure effective implementation and follow-up.
More specifically, the Division of Public Health Emergency Management, Ministry of Public Health oversees and coordinates the implementation of the Action Plan on Prevention and Mitigation of Medical and Public Health Emergencies B.E. 2566-2570 (2023-2027).
The Relief and Community Health Bureau of the Thai Red Cross Society also conducts community-based disaster risk reduction programs since 2003, involving more than 270 communities.
The implementation of pledge is an on-going process that will continue.
