Strengthening RFL services within the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and cooperation between the components of the Movement and States: Final report

Mesures prises:

  • Adequate measures undertaken to ensure that Departments and staff across the National Society are aware of the RFL Strategy 2020-25 including promotion of the service through all-staff meetings and internal awareness-raising; promotion to NS Leadership of Global RFL Strategy.
  • Several successful sessions undertaken with program staff to develop action plans for the program, considering elements of the RFL Strategy requiring implementation within the national context.
  • RFL is reflected in the Australian Red Cross migration sub-strategy and is embedded in all work undertaken with migrants by the National Society.
  • Australian Red Cross’ Migration Support Programs include appropriate referral pathways to refer individuals into the RFL program.
  • Ongoing efforts undertaken within the National Society to ensure awareness of the RFL program including during Migration Support Program information sessions, All Staff meetings, and other opportunities as they arise.
  • Active promotion of RFL as a core service of the National Society through internal and external communications initiatives including through All-Staff bulletins, Australian Red Cross social media posts and external media opportunities. Additional ongoing promotion of the service with external stakeholders including government departments and non-government/sector agencies.
  • Inclusion of RFL in all responses requiring a multidisciplinary approach to migration related issues including but not limited to RFL services offered in immigration detention facilities; RFL services offered to persons repatriated from Israel and Occupied Palestinian Territories; and RFL outreach undertaken with communities impacted by emerging conflicts abroad.
  • Commitment by Australian Red Cross to expend an appropriate level of National Society core funding for the ongoing and sustainable delivery of RFL services in Australia.
  • Through participation in the Regional Implementation Team (RIT), support provided to engage National Societies in the region with the development of national RFL plans in line with Regional Plan of Action- ongoing.
  • Continued engagement by Australian Red Cross in global RFL Strategy Implementation Group (IG) and consequently, the Asia-Pacific RFL Regional Implementation Team (RIT) with responsibility for ongoing engagement with Pacific NS on capacity building initiatives.
  • Bilateral engagement with RFL Focal Points in New Zealand, Papua New Guinea (PNG), Samoa, Tonga, Solomon Islands and Palau as well as with Pakistan Red Crescent RIT member.
  • Facilitation of introductory RFL sessions for Pacific NS RFL Focal Points during Pacific RFL meeting in 2022.
  • Sharing of Australian Red Cross best practice with National Societies in Asia-Pacific region during RFL Regional Annual meetings
  • Inclusion of New Zealand Red Cross RFL Practitioner in ongoing, practice-based online sessions and training
  • Co-facilitation between Australian Red Cross and ICRC of basic RFL training with new Red Cross volunteers of the Bougainville branch of the PNG Red Cross Society
  • Successful delivery of RFL in Emergencies 2-day online training for Pacific NS Focal Points in 2020
