International Humanitarian Law Instruments

Mesures prises:

Denmark has continued to work towards further participation in the principal IHL instruments as well as towards enforcement of international humanitarian law and other relevant legal instruments. The above-mentioned IHL-related treaties have – with one exception – been ratified by Denmark. Most recently, following Danish Parliamentary approval, the Second Protocol to The Hague Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict entered into force on 5 December 2018. As regards the 2006 Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance, the ratification process is still in progress. Finally, Denmark has ratified the Arms Trade Treaty and supports the universalization of the treaty through various EU outreach activities. Through implementation of Council Common Position 2008/944/CFSP, International Humanitarian Law is at the core of Danish export controls assessments.
