Report on pledge – Auxiliary role of the Czech Red Cross

In 2020, the Ministry of Defense (“MOD”) and the Czech Red Cross (“CRC”) organized a training of the auxiliary medical personnel aimed to provide relief for COVID-19 patients at social and health care centers. In total, 900 members of the Czech Armed Forces participated at this specialized CRC course called “Preparation of the auxiliary personnel for health care”.

The Ministry of the Interior – Directorate General of the Fire Rescue Service of the Czech Republic has concluded a contract with the CRC providing for training of CRC Humanitarian Units. Their task is to cooperate in ensuring emergency accommodation for evacuees. In addition, at regional level, the respective Fire Rescue Services and the CRC regional associations have concluded contracts for cooperation in dealing with the effects of extraordinary events and crises. The Fire and Rescue Service of the Czech Republic has also provided grants for training of maskers and Humanitarian Units of the CRC.

The CRC is a component of the Integrated Rescue System of the Czech Republic. In 2021, the CRC participated in dealing with consequences of the tornado in South Moravia. Since 2022, the CRC has been involved in the activities of regional assistance centers for the reception of refugees from Ukraine and the provision of humanitarian aid to these people.
