A) Objectives of the pledge:

Pledge on Training on the prevention of sexual and gender-based violence in armed conflict and complex emergencies

For the years 2015-2019 the Government of Canada and the Canadian Red Cross, building on the work on sexual and gender-based violence at the 32nd International Conference, jointly pledge to:

    • Work within respective mandates and priorities to prevent sexual violence in armed conflict and other crisis situations;

 

 

    • Work to disseminate IHL including existing provisions that prohibit sexual violence as widely as possible in military instruction;

 

 

    • Continue to ensure that knowledge and understanding of existing prohibitions of sexual violence are fully integrated into the planning of operations of armed forces including relevant aspects of doctrine, training and exercises; and

 

 

    • Work to share these experiences and good practices where appropriate with other militaries and the International Conference

 

 

Engagement en matière de formation sur la prévention de la violence sexuelle et sexiste dans les conflits armés et les situations d’urgence complexes

Inclusion de la question de la violence sexuelle et sexiste dans la formation, la planification et les opérations

Pour les années 2015 à 2019, faisant fond sur le travail effectué sur la violence sexuelle et sexiste lors de la 32e Conférence internationale, le gouvernement du Canada et la Croix-Rouge canadienne s’engagent conjointement à :

    • Travailler, dans le cadre de leurs mandats et priorités respectifs, à prévenir la violence sexuelle dans les conflits armés et autres situations de crise;

 

 

    • Travailler à faire inclure le droit international humanitaire, y compris les dispositions existantes qui interdisent la violence sexuelle, aussi largement que possible dans les programmes d’instruction militaire;

 

 

    • Continuer à faire en sorte que la connaissance et la compréhension des interdictions existantes concernant la violence sexuelle soient pleinement intégrées dans la planification des opérations des forces armées, y compris les aspects pertinents à la doctrine, à l’entraînement et aux exercices;

 

 

    • Travailler à communiquer ces expériences et bonnes pratiques, le cas échéant, à d’autres forces militaires et à la Conférence internationale
