Implementation of disaster response fulfilling international criteria

A) Objectives of the pledge:

Based on the lessons learned from the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami, we will:
– make sure the application of a minimum standard for humanitarian
assistance including Sphere is put into action
– provide comprehensive support for the most vulnerable people who need
special attention including gender-based violence in disaster response
and the recovery program at home and abroad.

B) Action plan:

– Adapt Sphere and other standards such as gender in disaster, developed
by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, into
the Japanese Red Cross Society’s emergency response and recovery programs.
– Bring the ideas together about the comprehensive support for the most
vulnerable people, including gender related issues.
