Continuation of implementation of IHL

A) Objectives of the pledge:

National Inter-Institutional Commission on the Implementation of International Humanitarian Law was established on October 31, 2011 (based on the Government Decree 408 of October 28) in order to implement International Humanitarian Law (2014-2015) Action Plan. Commission is composed of the representatives from the relevant ministries, the national agencies, the Parliament of Georgia.

Since 2014, the Georgia Red Cross Society (GRCS) has been involved in the implementation process of the International Humanitarian Law (2014-2015) Action Plan of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia as a partner, as the International Committee of Red Cross.

One of the most effective ways to implement IHL at national level is to implement it according to the National Action Plan.

B) Action plan:

Action Plan:

    • Cooperate with relevant ministries, national agencies, International Committee of Red Cross and other key stakeholders

 

    • Participate in working groups, workshops, meetings, round tables.

 

    • Organize working meetings with key stakeholders in order to share information about the implementation process and next steps.

 

    • Cooperate with the state and relevant stakeholders in process of drafting/upgrading laws based on the International Humanitarian Law basic principles and rules.
