Responding to human trafficking of migrants

Actions taken:

The Bulgarian Red Cross is part of the European ATN and applies in its working practice the new IFRC trainer toolkit on Human Trafficking in the context of Migration which complements and supports the IFRC Global Strategy on Migration 2018-2022, and is a useful tool in training and sensitizing National Society’ staff and volunteers.

The Bulgarian Red Cross Refugee and Migrant Service conducts regular information sessions with asylum seekers on prevention of human trafficking. The Service does not provide support to victims of human trafficking, though. It works in a consortia with partner organization and within a referral network.

Bulgarian RC Plovdiv branch is actively involved in local, community level activities in providing shelter and support to victims of human trafficking. The branch organization collaborates with the local Commission against trafficking in human beings, NGOs and the municipality of the city of Plovdiv.

The NS participates in gatherings of the European ATN as well as in ToT conducted by neighbouring NSs.
