Dissemination of IHL among the young generation

Actions taken:

Austria reaffirms its commitment to promote knowledge of IHL within the young generation. Workshops between two (2) and four (4) hours (depending on the age of the participants) regarding the project “Exploring Humanitarian Law” were held at educational colleges and at educational institutions. These workshops are conducted for students (educational colleges) and children at schools (age between 12 and 18).

During this period (December 2014 – June 2017), workshops were held as listed:

    • Educational institutions (schools): 195 workshops, 4.285 children

 

    • Teacher training colleges: 34 workshops, 1.940 students/teachers

 

    • Workshops in cooperation with the Ministry of Education as part of the citizenship education campaign: 5 workshops, 150 participants
