أ) أهداف التعهد
Georgia faces increasingly severe climate-related risks, including heat, floods, and droughts. These events place significant burdens on vulnerable communities, particularly those with limited adaptive capacity. In response, this pledge aims to:
- Raise awareness and promote behavioral change to reduce climate-related risks;
- Strengthen local preparedness and empower communities to take early action;
- Foster youth-led climate initiatives as a driver of locally led adaptation;
- Inform and guide actions through community-based assessments.
ب) خطة العمل:
- Conduct and apply community-based assessments:
- Use findings to guide the selection of communities for further action and to design relevant interventions, ensuring evidence-based planning.
- Empower communities through preparedness planning:
- Support the development of household and community-level emergency preparedness plans;
- Facilitate workshops and dialogue processes to ensure plans are locally relevant, inclusive, and owned by the community.
- Launch small-scale projects in vulnerable communities:
- Initiate community-led climate adaptation initiatives based on identified priorities;
- Ensure that project selection is community-driven and reflects locally appropriate adaptation strategies.
- Promote youth-led climate action:
- Support young people to lead climate adaptation projects through microgrants and mentorship;
- Use the Y-Adapt curriculum—a participatory, game-based learning approach that helps youth understand climate change and identify local adaptation strategies. The program encourages youth to become change agents in their communities by designing and implementing context-specific adaptation actions;
- Support youth-led initiatives through facilitation, technical consultation, and by promoting integration of their ideas into broader local environmental efforts, where appropriate.
- Strengthen awareness and outreach:
- Launch public awareness campaigns and educational sessions tailored to climate hazards such as heatwaves, floods, and droughts;
- Engage communities in understanding risks and adopting risk-reducing behaviors, emphasizing behavioral change, collective responsibility, and locally appropriate knowledge dissemination.
- Advance mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS):
- Explore the mental health impacts of climate change through community dialogue and assessments.
- Develop community-centered MHPSS materials and activities tailored to climate stressors such as displacement, heat stress, and uncertainty.
