Enabling local leadership, capacity and delivery in principled humanitarian action and strengthening resilience

أ) أهداف التعهد

Georgia faces increasingly severe climate-related risks, including heat, floods, and droughts. The Country has made progress in improving the health of its population, particularly over the past decade by implementing a number of state-based reforms in the health sector to ensure universal access to medical services. However, special attention should be paid to the impact of climate change on human health. As the consequences of climate change on people’s health worsen day by day. The frequency of extreme daily temperatures and heat waves has increased in Georgia, leading to immediate health concerns such increased incidence of heat stroke, heat exhaustion, heat cramps and skin rash; aggravation of cardiovascular and respiratory diseases, especially among the elderly; increase in incidence of vector- and waterborne diseases.

Climate-related risks, exacerbate the existing situations of vulnerability and fosters the emergence of health and place significant burdens on vulnerable communities.
