National coordination for psychosocial support

الإجراءات المتخذة:

Actions Finland has taken to fulfill this pledge have advanced well.

The importance of psychosocial support was recognized widely in the Government resolution: Security Strategy for Society 2017. It was given a key role in building community resilience. For instance, according to the strategy, psychosocial support in accident and other crisis situations will be provided by the authorities acting in concert and coordinated by the local social and crisis emergency services.

Furthermore, the psychosocial support coordination at the regional level is going to be developed: according to the Social Service Act the five social emergency service units located in the five university hospital areas have mandated to coordinate preparedness planning of social emergency services in their respective regions. Psychosocial support is included in the preparedness planning of social services.

A network of experts in psychosocial support is going to be formed in Finland.

The report on best practices on coordination in psychosocial support is being drafted but not yet finished.

The Minister of Family Affairs and Social Services has appointed a working group on psychosocial support. The group have given recommendations (in May 2019) on the best organization models of psychosocial and crisis support after traumatic events in the local, regional and state level as well as in our forthcoming new social and health care structures.
