الإجراءات المتخذة:
Under this Pledge the Swedish Red Cross has initiated and performed a wide range of activities. These could shortly be summarized as follows:
The fundamental principles are of course of core value to the Swedish Red Cross in all situations. They are our guiding compass and provides us with the possibility to access people in need, both in Sweden and all over the world.
Our work under the pledge, with educational activities among our volunteers and personnel is therefore a continuous work that must continue. Specific activities since IC 32 include among others; an updated version of our Basic Red Cross course with more focus on mandate and fundamental principles, our web-based Basic Red Cross Course, a longer brochure, posters and postcards on the Principles in Swedish, literature developed to induce discussion on the principles based on real cases, and a quiz on the principles which is accessible both digitally and on paper. Seven short movies, one of each principle, featuring volunteers and staff giving their personal reflections have been produced and will be launched this autumn. The movies focus on a brief explanation of each principle, opportunities and challenges and how it is applied in our daily operations. In addition to the short movies, a sound based mini course will be available. One question to each principle is commented on from three perspectives – from a general point, from the view of the local board and from a group leader’s point of view.
We have developed a new way of approaching the fundamental principles by training a selected group of volunteers to lead workshops all over the country. There is no power point presentation, it is all about discussion and active participation. Since 2018, 57 workshops (with 1 076 participants) have been arranged.
We want to ensure that the fundamental principles are an integral part of all our activities. It is a matter of making the fundamental principles relevant to each specific activity. For example, which principles are most relevant when I work with disaster response, visiting the elderly, visiting internees, working in a Red Cross shop etc.
We also promote the fundamental principles on our intranet, our website and previously in our blog on IHL and fundamental principles. Furthermore, the Movement’s fundamental principles are always included in our external lectures and seminars on IHL and the work of the Red Cross and Red Crescent movement.
An overview of the Swedish Red Cross activities regarding humanitarian values, with focus on the fundamental principles, has also been presented at a webinar for national societies and partners.
