Modern Slavery

ا)‌ أهداف التعهد

For the years 2020 – 2023 the Australian Government and Australian Red Cross hereby pledge:

 

– To promote and advance Australia’s whole-of-community strategy to prevent and address Modern Slavery, and in particular, those areas that address humanitarian outcomes.

 

– To further enhance and develop support models for people at risk of or have experienced Modern Slavery.

 

– To continue to engage in regular and constructive dialogue with civil society, business, unions and academia to ensure robust efforts to prevent and respond to Modern Slavery, and to protect people impacted by Modern Slavery.

 

– To elevate the knowledge and experiences of people with lived experience of Modern Slavery and draw on the operational expertise of service providers and civil society in policy development.

 

– To continue international collaboration and cooperation to strengthen global responses to Modern Slavery.

 

ب) خطة العمل:

– Work together to develop and implement humanitarian aspects of Australia’s National Action Plan to Combat Human Trafficking and Slavery.

 

– Work together to increase awareness and build capacity of businesses, frontline workers, local and migrant communities to respond to modern slavery, including in regional and remote areas.

 

– Monitor and continue to build on the effectiveness of humanitarian assistance and protection provided to people who have experienced Modern Slavery through the delivery of Australia’s Support for Trafficked People Program.

 

– Collaborate on initiatives to build strong regional and international responses to modern slavery.

Draft Indicators for Measuring Progress

 

– Implementation of a National Action Plan to Combat Human Trafficking and Slavery that reflects Red Cross experience and concerns around the support and experience of victims of trafficking.

 

– Incorporation of Red Cross expertise into further guidance for reporting entities under Australia’s Modern Slavery Act.

 

– An increase in Red Cross capacity to raise awareness of Modern Slavery, particularly in regional areas and develop referral pathways with local agencies.

 

– Strong engagement between Australian Red Cross and the Australian Government in the Bali Process, in particular around safe migration and support for victims.

– Baseline activities funded through current programming, expansion dependent on further investment through Red Cross, Government, or in partnership.
