Red Cross of Montenegro (RCM) has been a member of the working group on deceased migrants since the signature of pledge.
However, RCM didn’t attend the WG meetings due to the lack of funds for coverage of accommodation and travel for this activity.
RCM has done the mapping of the current situation in Montenegro in order to thoroughly understand the process of how deceased migrants are identified, registered, if and how their families are informed and who is responsible for these tasks. However, this is the area that needs improvement. Until now, Montenegro didn’t have any case of deceased migrants therefore there were no possibility to test the current framework.
RCM has established communication with relevant and competent authorities for this field and in case of potential case, there is a procedure in place.
