activities undertaken:

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea (MOFA) has engaged with the ICRC and the Korean Red Cross (KRC) as below: a) holding National Committee for International Humanitarian Law (IHL) since 2002, twice a year, holding the 15th in December 2019; b) engaging as a member of the KRC IHL Institute Advisory Committee, which is held twice a year; c) suporting KRC activities (e.g. academic competition, seminar for undergraduates) to promote and facilitate compliance with IHL; d) supporting ICRC activities such as IHL seminar for government offcials. In addition, the Ministry of National Defense of the ROK (MND)’s General Counsel serves as an advisor to the Humanitarian Law Committee of KRC, operating channel with ICRC Seoul Office. ICRC Seoul suports MND and ROK military in terms of IHL education and relevant training session. The Korean military also hold an annual operational law seminars, of which IHL is one of main elements.
