Explanation:

The Ministry of Public Health coordinates national preparedness and response to epidemics and pandemics according to International Health Regulations (IHR). To provide local and prompt detection and intervention, the Royal Thai Government mobilizes health volunteers and actively engages local communities in knowledge dissemination, public awareness raising, and multi-sectoral coordination between health actors, contributing to Thailand’s resilient health infrastructure that is effective and responsive to health challenges.

Following the Covid-19 pandemics, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, Ministry of Interior has updated and adapted operational guidelines on multiple disaster so to be able to respond to epidemics and pandemics more effectively in different settings.

The Thai Red Cross Society played a crucial role alongside public authorities in providing health and medical services, medical and personal protective equipment, and research support under the Thai Red Cross Emerging Infectious Diseases Clinical Center. Importantly, the Thai Red Cross Society also provided Covid-19 vaccination for Thai and non-Thai vulnerable individuals residing in the country, and assisted in the procurement and distribution of vaccines to other countries in need.

Following the Covid-19 pandemics, greater prioritization has been attached to public health and pandemic preparedness and response capacity, which requires a whole-of-society approach and partnerships between all sectors.

Government and partners also work towards more targeted approach while prioritizing groups that are vulnerable and with high health risks in tackling epidemics and pandemics.
