General Assembly of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC)
The Constitution of the IFRC defines the General Assembly as the supreme body of the International Federation that determines the vision and strategy of the IFRC, and the general policies that govern the International Federation and the National Societies. It involves delegates from all 191 recognized National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and meets every two years to define the overall policy of the IFRC.

What to expect and draft agenda of the 24th session of IFRC General Assembly
The 24th session of the General Assembly will bring together 191 National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies to discuss and determine the IFRC’s priorities for the next two years. They will approve policies and tools to guide National Societies in their daily humanitarian work. Key elements such as trust and integrity, localization, volunteering and investing in National Societies have guided the preparations for the Statutory Meetings, which will provide an opportunity to discuss how we can remain relevant as an organization. -
Who attends the General Assembly?
The General Assembly is attended by members of the IFRC only. This includes all National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. Each of the delegations has equal rights expressed by a single vote. -
When and where is the General Assembly taking place?
The General Assembly takes place every two years. When it is held in an International Conference year, the General Assembly takes place in Geneva. Outside of a Conference year, the location of the General Assembly may vary, and is usually hosted in the home country of different National Societies.
The 24th session of the General Assembly will take place in Geneva from the 23rd to the 25th October 2024.
