    Explanation:

    1. Increased Representation of Women in Decision-Making Levels:
      • The LRC has taken significant steps to increase the representation of women in decision-making positions 248 of our staff members are women, knowing that three out of six members in the operation director team are women and that 30% of the executive committee members are women in addition to the Branches where most of the Head of Committees are woman . These efforts align with the call to increase women’s representation at all levels of decision-making, including governing bodies and administrative positions.
    2. Identification and Support of Women Leaders:
      • The LRC has actively sought and supported women leaders, particularly those from regions severely affected by humanitarian crises. Miriana Bader is a distinguished leader and advocate in the humanitarian sector, serving as the Youth Director at the Lebanese Red Cross (LRC) and a member of the Operations Director Team. Since 2019, she has been an active member of the IFRC Youth Commission for the Asia Pacific region. Throughout her tenure, Miriana has made significant contributions to advancing women’s empowerment and gender equality. Miriana’s advocacy work has taken her to several international conferences and statutory meetings, where she has consistently championed the cause of women’s empowerment. Notably, her impactful speech in Vietnam, addressed to all National Society leaders, highlighted the critical need for gender equality in humanitarian efforts and showcased her dedication to this cause. This speech remains a testament to her relentless efforts in promoting women’s leadership and empowerment within the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.
    3. Achieving Gender Parity by 2030:
      • The LRC is seeking to achieve gender parity at all levels by 2030. We have implemented consistent and reliable approaches to collect accurate and timely gender-disaggregated data, allowing us to monitor and ensure progress towards this goal.

     

    1. Investing in Research and Identifying Best Practices:
      • The LRC has invested in research involving women’s participation to identify best practices and remove barriers to their involvement, particularly in leadership and decision-making roles in humanitarian responses. Especially in our recruitment process that seeks on adhering to specific qualifications and to maintain gender equality in the organization.
    2. Supporting Full and Effective Participation of Women:
      • The LRC supports the full and effective participation of women, ensuring equality in leadership roles and decision-making in international humanitarian forums at global, regional, and national levels. Our participation in numerous workshops with women’s teams. , Miriana has actively participated in multiple forums, such as the MENA regional round tables. These forums have provided her with platforms to advocate for strengthening women’s leadership and to share best practices and strategies for achieving gender parity. Her contributions in these discussions have been instrumental in driving policy changes and fostering a more inclusive environment within the humanitarian community. Miriana has also been involved in the “National Strategy for Women in Lebanon 2022-2030” organized by the National Commission for Lebanese Women (NCLW). Her participation in this strategic initiative underscores her commitment to advancing the status of women in Lebanon, ensuring their active involvement in leadership roles, and advocating for policies that promote gender equality at the national level.

      • The LRC is committed to providing regular reports on progress towards implementing this decision to the 34th International Conference. This documentation and reporting mechanisms ensure transparency and accountability in achieving our goals.

    Examples of cooperation:

    LRC has many women team leaders in the field (Volunteers team leaders, head of stations etc) responding in times of crises . On another level, most of the Head of Branches are women ; local and central governance in addition to directors

    To ensure gender balance also inside the movement NS are asked to pick 1 female 1 male . Also with UN we always participate and speak in events highlighting the importance of women

    Description of the impact:

    • As LRC leads in Health it is very important and we take into consideration having a female while responding to missions or activities and by this preserving and respecting all beliefs in several communities all over Lebanon
    • Women are capable of leading inside or outside
    • Women are being chosen ambassadors in their own communities
