Restoring Family Links (RFL)

A) Objectives of the pledge:

To strengthen the Georgia Red Cross Society capacities for better responding to RFL needs in Georgia, including through the provision of resources.

 

Georgia Red Cross Society calls upon the components of the movement to work closely with the states in line with their mandates and also calls upon the states to make use of the services of the Georgia Red Cross Society in its role as an auxiliary to the public authorities in the humanitarian field to enable individuals and the families to restore and maintain contacts, including along migratory routes.

 

The Georgia Red Cross Society ensures that all its relevant departments, including at branch level are fully aware of the Restoring Family Links Strategy 2020–2025. The restoring family links (RFL) department of the Georgia Red Cross Society adapts the implementation measures in the Restoring Family Links Strategy 2020–2025 to its specific national context and develops annual action plans aligned with the strategy. Georgia Red Cross Society increases Restoring family links coverage through volunteer involvement at all levels of program implementation by providing training for volunteers and branch staff. Georgia Red Cross Society provides RFL training and workshops, including RFL in Emergencies to its staff and volunteers, enabling them to increase response during disasters or other emergencies. enhances RFL service delivery in line with principles guiding the RFL response, by establishing a strong, dynamic, and strategic relationship with various actors, including with the private sector. Ensures the implementation of the RFL Code of Conduct on Data Protection in order to facilitate the effective performance of RFL services. Contributes to reducing the vulnerability of families of missing persons, and advocating on behalf of the families, in the best interest of the families.

 

B) Action plan:

  • Ensure processing of Tracing Cases
  • Keep and implement MOU with Public Service Development Agency
  • Expand and strengthen cooperation with relevant actors on national and international levels for timely and effective implementation of RFL services
  • Experience exchange meetings between national societies on RFL services
  • Ensure the organization of RFL workshops/trainings for volunteers, and HQ representatives
  • Conduct simulation exercises within the frame of ‘’RFL in Emergencies’’ for volunteers and branch focal points.
  • Mobilize required resources (human and material) to respond to the humanitarian needs of the families of missing persons, and to advocate in their best interest.

 

C) Indicators for measuring progress:

  • Number of tracing cases processed
  • Number of meetings with relevant actors
  • Number of experience exchange forums
  • Number of volunteers trained in RFL and the needs of the families of missing persons
  • Number of Staff members trained in RFL and the needs of the families of missing persons
  • Number of Simulation exercises in ‘’RFL in Emergencies’’ for volunteers and branches focal points
  • Amount of resources mobilized by HQ

 

D) Resource implications:

National Society will determine the resources necessary to carry out this pledge based on identified objectives and actions
