Behavior change campaigns to increase the respect for healthcare by the general population

A) Objectives of the pledge:

Considering Resolutions 5 of the 31st, and Resolution 4 of the 32nd International Conference of the Red Cross and the Red Crescent and bearing in mind that in today’s conflicts and emergencies civilians are increasingly the source of insecurity affecting the delivery of healthcare and hindering access to healthcare services by those in need.

The signatories of this pledge aim to work towards increasing the respect for healthcare by the general population in conflict and other emergencies.

B) Action plan:

  • Working towards carrying out behavior change campaigns aimed at increasing the respect for healthcare by the general population.
  • Identification of specific behaviors to be targeted by the campaigns through the analysis of evidence and orientation the communication activities to alter those behaviors in a measurable way.
  • Assessing the impact of these campaigns through scientific methods (in particular through partnerships with institutes of public health or other suitable research bodies).

C) Indicators for measuring progress:

  • Number of campaigns carried out
  • Number of campaigns where the behavior change impact was assessed using scientific methods
