Report on Pledge- Women and Leadership

Actions taken:

Actions Taken:

We have formed a Women Resource Group. We have increased our support for GLOW Red activities in terms of funding, personnel support and visibility. With Clara Barton leading our way years ago, it is no wonder that the Red Cross has continued to attract strong and determined women to make a meaningful difference. The American Red Cross has created the Women’s Resource Group to harness the power and skills of the women at the Red Cross, to bring greater awareness and to create resources for the unique challenges and opportunities that women face. The [American] Red Cross Women’s Resource Group supports women employees and volunteers of all diverse groups, by providing a safe place to discuss issues that impact women, provide awareness throughout the Red Cross community, and empower women through networking and professional development, positively impacting the Red Cross Mission.

Challenges Encountered:

Natural disasters have increased drastically in the US, so we have not been able to prioritize gender equality/equity work at the grassroots level.

Concrete Examples:

Funding for travel support for delegates from other NS to GLOW Red annual meetings.

Personnel support at the secretariate

Presentation at the Tiffany Circle Summit
