<Disaster prevention education for young people>

130,000 copies of disaster prevention teaching materials “Spreading disaster prevention to protect lives” have been produced for elementary, junior high and high schools. The JRCS will make use of it as a tool for disseminating disaster prevention education to the Junior Red Cross member schools through JRCS branches nationwide.

As of January 2019, the teaching material utilization rate is 24%, the highest number among the same type of materials produced for schools in Japan.

In August 2018, the JRCS prepared disaster prevention teaching materials for kindergartens and nurseries. 4,000 copies were so far produced and distributed to the Junior Red Cross member gardens through the branch.

In April 2019, in order to promote the spread of disaster prevention teaching materials “Spreading disaster prevention to protect lives” for elementary schools, junior high schools, and high schools, the JRCS has produced 6 videos covering actual examples of use. The JRCS continues to promote further dissemination such as having disaster prevention education seminars all over the country and teaching how to use it in school classes and in group works.
