Humanitarian principles are a part of the new legal and institutional frameworks of development cooperation and humanitarian assistance of the Republic of Slovenia (Act On Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid of the Republic Of Slovenia, adopted by the National Assembly on 17 April 2019 (Official Gazette No 30/18), the Resolution on development cooperation and humanitarian assistance of the Republic of Slovenia, adopted by the National Assembly on 26 September 2017 (Official Gazette No. 92/07), Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid Strategy of the Republic of Slovenia, adopted by the Government on 20. December 2018).Slovenia is also guided by the European Consensus on Humanitarian Aid, the international commitments undertaken at the Third UN World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction in Sendai and the 2016 World Humanitarian Summit in Istanbul. Slovenia also undertook to meet the commitments under the Grand Bargain on improving the effectiveness and efficiency of humanitarian action. Slovenia is a member of the Food Aid Convention and respects the principles and practices of good humanitarian donorship. Slovenia is also a partner of the Call to Action on Protection from Gender-Based Violence in Emergencies. In delivering humanitarian assistance, Slovenia allocates humanitarian support through international organisations (especially ICRC, IFRC, WFP, UNHCR, UNICEF, UNRWA) or through public foundations (especially ITF Enhancing Human Security) and non-governmental organisations selected in public calls by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Humanitarian principles are binding for all humanitarian partners that receive our funds.
