Ratification of amendments to the Rome Statute

Actions taken:

Brazil is a strong advocate, in discussions both in New York and in The Hague, of the universalization of the Rome Statute. In our speeches on this matter, we always call those states that have not yet ratified the Statute to do so. In addition, Brazil coordinated the Group of Friends of the International Criminal Court between 2015 and 2018, when it played a leading role in the dissemination of the Rome Statute both among UN member states and within the academic community and civil society.
