Joint pledge agreed upon by the Government of Iceland and the Icelandic Red Cross during the 32nd International Conference of the Red Cross and the Red Crescent in 2015: Pledge aiming at decreasing prejudism against foreigners and at the same time facilitate mutual integration into society

A) Objectives of the pledge:

The Icelandic Government and the Icelandic Red Cross hereby agree to cooperate in the execution of the following pledge:

    1. Promote tolerance and respect for human rights without regard to gender, race, color, religion and sexual orientation and other personal characteristics.

 

    1. Strengthen the efforts of the Government for equality, equal opportunities and integration to the society.

 

    1. Reduce potential discrimination against foreigners within the public sector by introducing training and education for relevant parties within the justice system.

 

    1. Support further integration of foreign students within the school system, inter alia with the aim of reducing the number of drop-outs, especially from college.
