A) Objectives of the pledge:

Pledge on the Prohibition on the Use, Stockpiling, Production and Transfer of Antipersonnel Landmines

For the years 2015-2019, the Government of Canada pledges to:

    • Continue the pursuit of a world free of the scourge of anti-personnel landmines through fully universalising and implementing the Convention on the Prohibition on the Use, Stockpiling, Production and Transfer of Antipersonnel Mines and on their Destruction (the Ottawa Convention), in close cooperation with other States Parties, the Convention’s Implementation Support Unit, UN Agencies, International organizations including the ICRC and, civil society particularly the International Campaign to Ban Landmines; and

 

 

    • Continue to assist States Party to the Ottawa Convention to meet their treaty deadlines for stockpile destruction and mine clearance, and to support the rehabilitation of mine victims.

 

 

Engagement concernant l’interdiction de l’emploi, du stockage, de la production et du transfert de mines terrestres antipersonnel

Pour les années 2015 à 2019, le gouvernement du Canada s’engage à :

    • poursuivre les efforts en vue de libérer le monde du fléau des mines terrestres antipersonnel par l’universalisation et la mise en œuvre de la Convention sur l’interdiction de l’emploi, du stockage, de la production et du transfert de mines terrestres antipersonnel et sur leur destruction (Convention d’Ottawa), en étroite collaboration avec les autres États parties, l’Unité d’appui à l’application de la Convention, les organismes des Nations Unies, des organisations internationales, notamment le CICR et la société civile, plus particulièrement la Campagne internationale pour interdire les mines terrestres;

 

 

    • continuer à aider les États parties à la Convention d’Ottawa à respecter leurs échéances pour la destruction des stocks et le déminage, et soutenir la réadaptation des victimes des mines.
