One Billion Coalition: Building community resilience and contributing to sustainable development

Actions taken:

In the spirit of this pledge, in 2018 Danish Red Cross adopted a new manifest (vision) at its  General Assembly, which makes it clear that Danish Red Cross  will work towards a society and world bound by a spirit of humanity and community and want to  turn humanity into everyone’s concern in Denmark.

In 2015, Danish Red Cross engaged in a civil society process for providing input to the Danish Government’s SDG National Implementation Plan, focusing on areas of relevance to national and international humanitarian work. In the recent review of the International Strategy, DRC has ensured that contributions to the realization of the SDG indicators is measured through its strategic objectives and results framework. Under the Strategic Partnership with the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Danish Red Cross is also an active contributor to the cluster on Grand Bargain and the localization.

In stepping up to meet future needs and increase humanitarian impact, DRC has recognised the need and opportunities for collaboration and innovation with the private sector through multi-stakeholder partnerships that mobilise and share knowledge, expertise, technology and financial resources in pursuit of solutions that will both fill the current gaps and / or change the approach entirely in support of our fundamental humanitarian mission. To gain more experiences and strengthen its approach to private partnerships, Danish Red Cross in 2014-2016 engaged in a project on “Future Partnership Models for Strategic CSR”, comprising more than than 30 organisations, including the partner organisations: CARE Danmark, Danish Red Cross, Grundfos and Coop Denmark, with support from the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The project was facilitated by the Danish Red Cross together with Deloitte Sustainability, and resulted in a “Cross Sector Partnership Guideline” comprising methodologies and tools for the developing partnerships between civil society and private businesses. http://theguideline.dk/
