Day of Remembrance

Actions taken:

Australian Red Cross has held internal commemorative events every year on 17 December. These events have outlined the significance of 17 December for the Movement, and have included telling the stories of those who lost their lives. Led by senior leadership and available to staff and volunteers across all Australian Red Cross offices around the country, the events have also included reading the names of all Movement staff and volunteers who have lost their lives in the course of their humanitarian work, and candles have been lit to pay tribute to their efforts and sacrifice. Messaging has included a focus on ensuring respect for health care, and respect for IHL. The Day of Remembrance has also been acknowledged in Australian Red Cross’ external communication channels, including through media and on social media channels.
