Pledges of the Republic of Korea National Red Cross

A) Objectives of the pledge:

The Republic of Korea National Red Cross hereby pledges:

1. to respond to humanitarian needs of families separated by the Korean War

Despite challenges and difficulties attributed to geopolitical complexity on the Korean peninsula and inter-Korean relations, the Korean Red Cross will pursue constant and persistent humanitarian dialogue in order to meet needs of separated families including ascertaining the fate and whereabouts of their loved ones and holding regular separated family reunions.

2. to promote International Humanitarian Law and the Fundamental Principles

Recognizing that the consequence of violence of IHL in growing asymmetric conflict situations is greater, the Korean Red Cross will continue to strengthen the dissemination and training of IHL, the fundamental principles in line with national activities and to intensify partnership with different stakeholders across the Republic of Korea.
