Increasing safer access

A) Objectives of the pledge:

We, the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society, commit to taking action to increase our acceptance, security and access, and to supporting our peer National Red Cross volunteers in their efforts to do so, in order to more effectively reach more people in need, especially focusing in the territories where the conflicts had been prevailed and also to take forward reconciliation initiatives amongst the communities to uphold co-existence amongst each other. The reconciliation initiative will also be mainstreamed to the other parts of the country to integrate communities of other races and religions. This will be put in firmly in application of the Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement (Movement) and carried out through the implementation of the Safer Access Framework and other Movement tools and approaches.

B) Action plan:

    • Strengthen the capacities of the National Society including branches for them to be trained in the mechanisms and operational tools relevant to these specific sectors, especially knowledge and skills contained in the Safer Access Framework
